Model Parameter: Stormwater Vault

  1. Constraint
    • Position (Clearance Distance)
The underground stormwater vault requires a minimum clearance distance from the station box to ensure structural safety and geotechnical stability. This clearance is necessary to prevent adverse interactions such as load transfer, soil instability, and interference between excavation zones. As such, the position of the stormwater vault is spatially constrained within the model to maintain this minimum separation, ensuring the structural integrity of both the station box and the stormwater system while preserving the functionality of groundwater infiltration.
  2. Design Variable
    • Stormwater Vault Width
The stormwater vault width affects its volume and is treated as a design variable within the model to accommodate varying climatic conditions, particularly differences in rainfall intensity, as well as changes in surface sealing resulting from the metro station footprint. The resulting storage capacity is calculated based on geometric input parameters, primarily the length and width of the vault, providing a direct measure of stormwater retention capacity for each design configuration.
