Scenario 3 – Visitor and Heritage Controlled Design

This scenario prioritises visitor safety and the protection of the archaeological area. The focus is placed on the retaining walls that define the excavation boundaries and on the glass curtain wall that allows visitors to move above the site.

Here, the archaeological area boundaries are strengthened to provide higher safety margins, while the glass curtain wall is made stiffer by reducing the panel size. The drainage related design and lower slope stabilization remain close to the baseline to keep the overall system balanced.

Based on the design principles described above, the design parameters assigned within the parametric model are presented in the table below.

In this configuration, the excavation boundaries formed by RW2 and RW3 are strengthened through geometric modifications, resulting in higher safety margins against sliding and overturning. This directly improves the protection of the archaeological area and creates safer structural conditions for the elements above. At the same time, the glass curtain wall is stiffened by reducing the panel size, which improves its structural performance and increases safety for visitor circulation.

Drainage-related parameters and lower-slope stabilisation measures are kept close to the baseline design in order to maintain a balanced system response. This approach ensures that improvements targeting visitor safety and heritage protection do not introduce unnecessary changes to other system components.

Overall, Scenario 3 demonstrates that targeted strengthening of excavation boundaries and the glass system can significantly enhance visitor safety and archaeological site protection while preserving the overall balance of the integrated system.
