Introduction

Lac de la Bayenna.

Switzerland is currently exploring the possibility of lifting its long-standing ban on building new nuclear power plants. This change is driven by concerns over energy security, rising electricity demand, and climate goals. In August 2025, the Swiss government presented draft legislation to end the ban.

One of the potential sites is the Val d’Anniviers. It is an alpine valley in the canton of Valais, in southwestern Switzerland. The valley is narrow and surrounded by high mountains of the Pennine Alps. This natural configuration provides protection and allows controlled access. These features make it a suitable site in terms of safety and security.

Our team of engineers, specialized in nuclear systems reliability and maintenance optimization, has been tasked with a multi-objective maintenance planning study for the new plant, with a particular emphasis on the systems that are most critical to safe operation and long-term performance
