ONTOLOGICAL MODELING<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Proper storage of an aircraft is\u00a0essential to any aircraft owner or operator. Designing and constructing an effective hangar provides protection of aircraft from the external elements and a comfortable environment for the maintenance personnel. The main concerns in the design of a hangar are long spans, door heights and suspended loads. All these factors evolve around the environmental and administrative restrictions, the type of aircraft and storage preferences [6]. PARAMETRIC MODELING<\/p>\n<p><strong>High Performance Criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Two high performance criteria are chosen for this model. The first one is the area of the hangar to shelter as many aircraft as possible to have the maximum financial benefit out of it and the second one is the total steel weight. The ideal span length for steel structures in not more than 20 m so this limitation will be taken into account.
