Deterioration describes the process, a product loses functionality and in the end has to be maintained to keep this function. Those interventions of course have to meet some cost benefit factor.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The here presented environmental system consists of the following subsystems: <a href=\"http:\/\/141.23.68.248\/wp\/?page_id=2734\"><strong>Wind Power Plant<\/strong><\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/141.23.68.248\/wp\/?page_id=2746\"><strong>Reverse Osmosis Plant<\/strong><\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/141.23.68.248\/wp\/?page_id=2723\"><strong>Dam<\/strong><\/a> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/141.23.68.248\/wp\/?page_id=2736\">Tunnel<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Due to existing dependencies of those systems, maintenance have to be coordinated and bundled to <strong>minimize costs<\/strong> and <strong>down time<\/strong>.\u00a0To develop maintenance strategies for those integrated systems, it is important to understand their relations, interfaces and interdependence&#8217;s. All <strong>systems deteriorate differently<\/strong> and have different <strong>specified maintenance<\/strong> intervals and strategies, as it is presented in the individual <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/141.23.68.248\/wp\/?page_id=3177\">systems pages<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-2769\" src=\"http:\/\/141.23.68.248\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Interfaces-1024x481.jpg\" alt=\"interfaces\" width=\"1024\" height=\"481\" srcset=\"http:\/\/141.23.68.248\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Interfaces-1024x481.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/141.23.68.248\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Interfaces-300x141.jpg 300w, http:\/\/141.23.68.248\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Interfaces-520x244.jpg 520w, http:\/\/141.23.68.248\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Interfaces-740x347.jpg 740w, http:\/\/141.23.68.248\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Interfaces.jpg 1127w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Figure 1: Explanation Interfaces<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For each system only<strong> one system configuration<\/strong> is considered. Each has <strong>three different interventions<\/strong> that distinguish in down time and costs.\u00a0The presented system of systems is located around\u00a0a\u00a0river delta around the coastline. This river is hold back by a dam, and crossed by a tunnel. both providing <strong>infrastructure<\/strong> to cross the river. At the coast a reverse osmosis plant and a offshore wind park are located. The offshore wind turbine and dam are providing <strong>energy<\/strong> for the reverse osmosis plant and the tunnel to work, while the reverse osmosis plant uses the tunnel as infrastructure to transport the fresh water on the other side of the river. When this passageway is down for some reason (e.g maintenance), the fresh water is stored within the dams reservoir.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The figure below displays the interdependence&#8217;s of those systems regarding eventual down time caused by maintenance. To have the whole system of systems running properly, only one sub-systems in the dashed lines is allowed to be maintained at once.
