The aim was to combine traditional civil engineering knowledge with smart infrastructure concepts, while maintaining semantic clarity, logical consistency, and direct compatibility with parametric design models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An ontology was developed to structure the bridge system into well-defined domains, including <strong>superstructure and substructure components<\/strong> (deck, pylon, pier, foundation), <strong>materials<\/strong> (e.g., steel, concrete), <strong>usage types<\/strong> (pedestrian and cycling), and <strong>smart features<\/strong> such as sensors and lighting. Physical components were clearly separated from abstract design concepts by introducing <strong>design domains and design aspects<\/strong> (environmental, structural, and architectural), preventing logical conflicts during reasoning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Concrete individuals were instantiated to represent a smart bridge option and its main components, demonstrating how real bridge designs can be described and compared within the ontology. Key geometric and structural parameters\u2014such as <strong>bridge length, deck width and thickness, deck elevation, pylon height, and cable properties<\/strong>\u2014were defined as data properties.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"http:\/\/141.23.68.248\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-445.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"266\" height=\"348\" src=\"http:\/\/141.23.68.248\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-445.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27402\" srcset=\"http:\/\/141.23.68.248\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-445.png 266w, http:\/\/141.23.68.248\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-445-229x300.png 229w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 266px) 100vw, 266px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong>Figure.1<\/strong> Object Property Heirarchy<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>In parallel, a <strong>parametric model in Dynamo<\/strong> was developed using the same parameters to generate deck geometry, pylon geometry, and the cable system.
