Abstract<\/h2>\n

\u2018The Hand\u2019 is a sightseeing attraction and simultaneously a walkable building designed to be used to watch ongoing formula racing matches taking place on the race track. Tourists visiting the sports park can see the statue from practically everywhere due to its massive size.<\/p>\n

As a standing symbol of the sports park \u2018The Hand\u2019 is a vital piece in fulfilling one of the most important factors for the sports park: drawing in different people together. It allows people to gather by providing an alternative spot to watch the race while also having a canteen that can be used from visitors and athletes alike.<\/p>\n

Ontology<\/h2>\n

The idea of this building is heavily derived from the victory column standing in Germany, Berlin and is divided into two subsystems consisting of the sub- and superstructure. Its substructure, which consists of the stone pedestal and arm segment of the statue is used for the canteen. The superstructure consists of the hand part of the building and is mainly used for watching outside.<\/p>\n

Parametric model<\/h2>\n

With the ontology graph the creation of a suitable model for the building can be quite complicated. To find a suitable parametric model for the model it is needed to simplify the requirements by limiting the design parameters to a certain amount.<\/p>\n

In order to achieve this, the base form of the substructure was simplified by using an ellipse. With this modification choice the following parts of the building such as the base area of the superstructure can be calculated and scaled accordingly. In relation to the base of the superstructure the fingers can be placed on the resulting top area while scaling with the radius and height of the building. Therefore, it is possible to use only three design parameters to change the whole scaling of the building. With this information, the design parameters used for this model are:<\/p>\n
