{"id":18564,"date":"2024-02-13T11:40:16","date_gmt":"2024-02-13T11:40:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/141.23.68.248\/wp\/?page_id=18564"},"modified":"2024-02-13T20:44:56","modified_gmt":"2024-02-13T20:44:56","slug":"efficient-residential-homes-parametric-model","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/141.23.68.248\/wp\/?page_id=18564","title":{"rendered":"Efficient Residential Homes: Parametric Model"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Goal and Scope<\/b><\/p>\n<p>This model\u00a0will allow curious homeowners and future engineers to easily input current or planned building specifications to determine the solar energy production abilities of said building, along with the minimum number of panels needed to fulfill average energy demand.<\/p>\n<p><strong>High Performance Criteria and\u00a0Parameters<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We seek to answer the following questions with this model:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What is the maximum solar energy production ability of the building using only roof space?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What is the minimum number of panels required to power a building with the input floor area?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>In order to do this, we analyze several key factors of building design, specifically, 1) Building Footprint Dimensions, 2) Center Point Height of the Roof, 3) Roof Pitch or Slope, and 4) Roof Overhang.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Logic and Alternatives<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The logic to produce this model is pictured below.
