Scope and Goal<\/b><\/p>\n

This ontology provides a guide for residential energy efficiency – it explores various options of energy production, and energy savings opportunities with and without using additional energy. Alternatives for power, heating, cooling, electricity usage are presented in a comprehensive knowledge base.<\/p>\n

Intended Users and Application<\/strong><\/p>\n

With the many options presented, designers and engineers – particularly mechanical engineers – can assess the many strategies for energy efficiency that might be applicable for their unique project. The ontology is broad enough to be applied to a new residential building, a home renovation, or simply for technological improvements to existing systems. Estimated energy savings are also provided for each alternative.<\/p>\n
