However, pile foundations are not quite typical for residential buildings. They are pre-caste to be easily connected to reach the required length. This will not decrease the design load capacity. Reinforcement within the pile is necessary to help withstand handling and driving stresses.<\/p>\n<p>Figure 2: Concrete Pile Foundation<\/p>\n<h5>Steel Pipe<\/h5>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Steel\/ Iron piles are suitable for handling and driving in long lengths. Their relatively small cross-sectional area and their high strength make penetration easier in firm soil. Timber has a high weight-to-strength ratio and can be cut, shaped, and handled simply.
